Salzburg – The Sound of Music – The Tour

Hotel Pension Herbert is located just in the middle of the triangle: Nonnberg Abbey – Leopoldskron Castle – Frohnburg Castle. All these most known places from the "Sound of Music" movie are in walking distance of 15 minutes. The other places in the City like Mirabell Castle (Do Re Mi) are 10 minutes by trolley bus or car. If you prefer to walk it is about 20 minutes passing by at the castle "Hohensalzburg".

Relive the true story of the von Trapp family which was filmed as the “Sound of Music” in and around Salzburg. The tour which has been Salzburg’s most popular tour for over 35 years, is a combination of both this historical city and the breathtaking Salzkammergut -Lakes and Mountains area - also a famous musical and cultural centre.

  • a drive through picturesque countryside as we make our way to the Salzkammergut/Lake District
  • an optional run down a toboggan chute
  • an optional coffee or shopping stop at the traditional village of St. Gilgen

Tour details

Following Maria von Trapp’s tracks through the city of Salzburg we will visit the Sound Of Music venues situated in town (see the Classic Sound Of Music Tour). After enjoying gorgeous views and interesting tales on your drive to the Salzkammergut/Lake District we will stop just outside St.Gilgen for coffee or lunch.

 

We will arrive at the unforgettable lakeside town of Hallstatt in the early afternoon. This absolutely enchanting village is situated in the middle of the Hallstatt-Dachstein area, a region of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. During a guided walking tour you will learn about it’s fascinating history and local peculiarities; subsequently you will have time to take in Hallstatt’s atmosphere a little longer before heading back to Salzburg, visiting the Sound Of Music Wedding Church in Mondsee on the way.
